I’ll be honest, Tuesday 7th November 2017 was the first Melbourne Cup event I have ever been to. I have not been immune to the hysteria that normally accompanies The Cup and I have been known to don a crazy hat. But this year The Trashy Artisan Cooperative was fortunate to be asked by In Noosa Magazine to participate in a  wearable art and upcycled clothing parade as part of the festivities and what better way to make upcycling discards fashionable than on ‘the day that stops the nation’?

So with my trolley laden with industrial and commercial discards I went to Sunshine Beach State High School and St Andrews Anglican College and challenged the fashion and arts students to get creative. And boy did they come to the party. The Patrons at Padstows in Noosa were stunned and delighted to see what these talented students came up with. Can’t wait to do it again next year!
